New funding for the State NRM Program announced
Lead Minister for natural resource management Ken Baston yesterday announced $24 million in funding over three years for the continuation of the State Natural Resource Management Program.
The $24 million promised in the 2014 State budget over three years from 2015/16, is 80% funded through the State's Royalties for Regions Program - in line with previous investment in the regions.
An implementation plan will be developed during 2014/15 to guide the next round of funding which will focus solely on community* engagement and participation in natural resource management activities.
The first round of grants under the new program is anticipated in early 2015.
* Includes schools, industry groups, not-for-profit organisations, local governments, environment action groups and alike.
