The Houtman Abrolhos Islands, located 60 km west of Geraldton, encompass the southern-most coral reefs of the Indian Ocean. The relatively unspoilt islands are under increasing pressure from human development, primary production and tourism.

With funding from the State NRM Program, the Department of Fisheries worked with those who use the islands to develop a plan to manage and protect the land and aquatic assets, biodiversity and biosecurity of the islands.

    Investment: $ 490 000
    Delivery organisation: Department of Fisheries
    Project duration: December 2009 - April 2011
    Location: Houtman Abrolhos Islands
