Community members have been restoring the dunes at Mullaloo beach over a period of six years with the assistance of funds from Coastwest, the State NRM Program and the City of Joondalup.

The area to be revegetated and maintained is large, so the restoration process will take many years of ongoing action.

This project will continue work started in State NRM Program project 11022.

Weeding will continue in vegetated areas to the east of a dual-use path and around car parks, and extend north into another vegetated area. Weeds will be mapped at the beginning and end of project.

An area of heavily degraded fore-dune adjacent to a new lookout will also be revegetated.

    • Contract weeders will be employed with the grant money.
    • City of Joondalup will assist at planting days and provide plants.
    • Community volunteers will conduct administration, monitoring, mapping, weeding and planting works.
