In 2013 it will be 30 years since the introduction of landcare in Western Australia.

The Jerramungup Land Conservation District Committee (LCDC) was the second of its kind to be formed in Western Australia under the Soil and Land Conservation Act (1945), and the first to implement landcare actions on-ground.

Fitzgerald Biosphere Group was formed in 2012 after a merger of the original LCDC and two other local groups.

This project will acknowledge, engage and inform the community on 30 years of landcare within the Fitzgerald Biosphere region through celebrations and educational activities including:

    • displays
    • tours of previous and new project sites
    • demonstrations of updated technology and practices

The project will also continue landcare efforts, concentrating on the Chittowirrup creek system which flows into the lower Pallinup River. Ten kilometres of fencing will be installed to protect remnant vegetation surrounding the waterway.

    Investment: $ 33 000
Delivery organisation: Fitzgerald Biosphere Group Inc
    Project duration: January 2013 - December 2013
Location: Chittowirrup Creek system in the Shire of Jerramungup
