12064: Gascoyne Junction flood recovery project
Floods in the Gascoyne River catchment in 2010 and 2011 caused serious erosion, damaging catchment areas, tributaries and infrastructure. Flood waters also encouraged the growth and spread of invasive woody weed, Mesquite.
This project will identify old infestations and new outbreaks of Mesquite in the catchment and control these before pants reach maturity and begin reproducing.
Contractors will be employed to undertake basal bark spraying at infested sites. Land managers will contribute diesel to the project to assist with the spraying.
