The Qualeup Lakes system provides vital aquatic and wetland habitat for a large number of plants and animals. The intact remnant wetland vegetation provides habitat for important birdlife, including the endangered Australasian bittern (Otaurus poiciloptilus) and Little bittern (Ixobrychus dubius).

This project aims to rehabilitate the larger and smaller Qualeup Lakes and surrounding low-lying areas. They will be fenced off from stock and revegetated with local, native species, creating more habitat. The revegetation will also help to mitigate the spread of dryland salinity.

    Investment: $ 29 700
    Delivery organisation: Blackwood Basin Group
    Project duration: January 2013 - June 2014
Location: Qualep Lake, Shire of Kojonup
