12077: Continuing to control feral pigs in the Shire of West Arthur

Land use in the Shire of West Arthur is dominated by agriculture; however it still retains 30 per cent of its original remnant vegetation, which is home to numerous rare flora and fauna species.

Feral pigs are a threat to both sustainable agriculture and the ongoing health of remnant vegetation in the area.

This project will work with local landholders to:

    • monitor and trap pigs
    • undertake workshops on trap building and identifying damage caused by pigs
    • record and map pig numbers.
    Investment: $ 25 000
Delivery organisation: West Arthur Declared Species Group
    Project duration: March 2013 - June 2014
    Location: Shire of West Arthur
