12080: Conservation and restoration of flora and fauna at the Jack Mears Park spring, Collie
The aim of this project is to restore and protect the unique and fragile environment around the spring at Jack Mears Park in Collie.
The spring is located a short distance from the Collie River and runs directly into the river. Both the river and spring are Aboriginal sacred sites.
Project activities will include weed control and revegetation as well as the creation of a walkway alongside the spring and a welcoming sign describing the cultural and historical significance of the site.
Revegetation will include propagation of local provenance native species, particularly those used by the local Noongar community for food or medicine.
