12099: North Swan species richness
This project will restore five hectares of river foreshore within North Swan Park, a reserve vested in the City of Swan. The reserve is part of an important wildlife corridor between Talbot Road Reserve and the Swan River.
Formerly used for grazing, the area was completely cleared apart from an area of remnant Melaleuca raphiophylla and several mature Eucalyptus rudis.
Through this project the Blackadder Woodbridge Catchment Group will:
- manually remove a 0.5ha infestation of arum lily from the remnant patch of melaleuca and revegetate with native species
- plant local provenance tree and shrub species in a former paddock to provide shade and stability
- remove invasive grasses from 100m of creekline and plant with sedges.
