The foreshore of the Mortlock catchment is a major contributor of salt, nutrients and sediment to the Swan-Avon catchment due to its degraded state. Stories from older residents of fishing and swimming in fresh to brackish water in the Mortlock River as children have inspired many landholders and other community members to work to protect and restore the foreshore environment.

Supported by Wheatbelt NRM and Friends of the Mortlock and South Mortlock, the Meenar Grass Valley group will work with landholders to fence priority degraded sites, and conduct weeding and revegetation upstream of the confluence with the Mortlock East branch as far as Quailing Gully.

    Investment: $ 25 000
Delivery organisation: Meenar Grass Valley Group operating under the Friends of the Mortlock and South Mortlock
    Project duration: January 2013 - December 2013
Location: Mortlock and Mortlock South catchment
