12116: Revegetation of Nangip catchment to reduce threats of salinity in Nangip Reserve
Nangip Reserve is a Land for Wildlife site cared for by Darkan Primary School through the Keep Australia Beautiful program.
The reserve is home to the Darkan Heritage Trail.
Land upstream of the reserve is highly degraded and the source of large amounts of silt and weed seed deposited into the reserve during flood events.
This project aims to improve stormwater management in the Nangip catchment by:
- protecting river bank vegetation on private land with fencing and weed control
- revegetating sections of Nangip and North Munyantine Creeks
- stabilising creek beds using culverts or large rocks.
