13021: Expanding the Collier Park Golf Course Sanctuary
Collier Park Golf Course is an iconic landscape feature in the City of South Perth.
The 91 hectare site was once a pine plantation; remaining pine trees provide one of the largest Carnaby Cockatoo roosting sites in Perth. A portion of the site was also used as a rubbish tip before it was developed into a golf course.
The City of South Perth invested considerable funds into the site in 2001, re-creating a wetland and revegetating the southern portion of the grounds.
This project will build on these works by revegetating areas of the golf course with 9000 locally native plants with the aim of creating a wildlife corridor connecting the Swan and Canning Rivers.
