13028: Revegetation of the islands at Mary Carroll Lake stage 2

Mary Carroll Lake is a seasonal wetland that supports large numbers of waterbirds, songbirds, reptiles, turtles and wetland plants. It's an important breeding site for birds and is considered a priority site with high conservation value under the City of Gosnells' biodiversity conservation management plan.

Weeds are threatening the health of the lake and surrounding bushland.

More than 4000 local native seedlings were planted on islands in the lake in stage one of activity. A significant amount of weed control was also undertaken.

Stage two expands this work to include two more islands within the lake. An additional 4000 local native seedlings will be planted and weed control efforts will continue.

    Investment: $ 11 000
Delivery organisation: Friends of Mary Carroll Wetland
    Project duration: December 2013 - June 2015
