Weeds pose a direct threat to a number of rare plants that occur only in the National Heritage listed Porongurup National Park.

Left uncontrolled these weeds have the potential to replace ecosystems and habitats unique to the Porongurup's including granite, shrubland, woodland and karri communities.

This project will control weeds over a 30 hectare area covering:

    • difficult to reach areas
    • areas that have haven't been treated in the last four years
    • areas that have never been treated.

Blackberry is the primary target however other declared and environmental weeds will also be controlled.

This project forms part of an ongoing weed control project that started in 2007.

    Investment: $ 50 000
Delivery organisation: Friends of the Porongurup Range
    Project duration: January 2014 - December 2014
Location: Porongurup National Park, Shire of Plantagenet
