The Origins Centre is a not-for-profit respite retreat and community activity centre located just outside the south-west town of Balingup.
The centre is situated on 5.7 hectares of steep, south facing bushland that runs along the Bibbulmun Track and Balingup Brook. It provides habitat for kangaroos, emus, brush-tailed possums, quenda, mardo, brush-tailed phascogale and many birds and has two springs that feed into Balingup Brook.
This project aims to increase middle and understorey plant diversity on the property and enhance habitat for local wildlife.
- removal of blackberry, phalaris grass, honeysuckle, bridal creeper and woody weeds
- direct seeding of weeded areas using seed collected on-site
- walk and talk tours with a Landcare advisor along the properties walk trails.
