    13113: Sandford Rocks bird-hide

Sandford Rocks Nature Reserve is situated 10km north-east of the Westonia townsite in the north-eastern wheatbelt.

It protects 806ha of granite outcrop, pools, wildflowers, scrub and woodland and has many diverse species of plants and animals.

This project will construct a wheelchair accessible bird hide in the reserve to provide educational benefits to the local community and visitors.

Interpretive signs will be installed at the bird hide to showcase the local birdlife. The 'Sandford Rocks Discovery Trail Brochure' will also be updated to incorporate the bird hide and signage, and a laminated-returnable brochure created for use by visitors.

To compliment this activity an extensive fox and rabbit baiting and shooting program will be conducted on farmland surrounding Sandford Rock's Nature reserve and other reserves in the shire.

    Investment: $ 29 500
    Delivery organisation: Shire of Westonia
    Project duration: March 2014 - December 2014
Location: Sandford Rock, Boodarockin road in the Shire of Westonia
