    13115: Solomon Yulgan catchment revegetation

Solomon Yulgan Brook flows in a south-easterly direction through the Shire of Victoria Plains, 160km north of Perth in the WA wheatbelt.

It flows into the Toodyay Brook which is a tributary of the Avon River.

This project will rehabilitate saline and degraded land adjacent to Solomon Yulgan Brook to:

    • improve water quality
    • reduce stream bed erosion
    • provide habitat for native animals.

Weed control, revegetation and fencing activities will occur over:

    • 8ha of salt effected land
    • 5ha of degraded remnant banksia woodland
    • 5ha of degraded wandoo/york gum woodland
    • 7 ha of disused cleared farmland

A total of 25 500 locally native seedlings will be planted and 3.5km of fence installed to protect these areas from stock.

Previously trialed methods for successfully rehabilitating saline and degraded land infested with Juncus acutus will be used in this project.

    Investment: $ 18 000
Delivery organisation: Solomon Yulgan Catchment Group
    Project duration: December 2013 - December 2014
