14038: Targeted on ground action in the Margaret River catchment

The Margaret River is regularly identified as one of the healthiest waterways in the south west and has been identified as one of the key conservation targets in the Augusta - Margaret River Conservation Action Plan. With considerable investment and community engagement in the catchment over the past 12 years, there is concern that without further investment key environmental threats will increase resulting in ecological decline and loss of the significant environmental outcomes and momentum gained over the years.

This project aims to improve the ecological condition of the Margaret River and its tributaries by reducing key environmental threats. Activities will include installation of fencing to control stock access, control of invasive weeds (including WoNS), revegetation of riparian areas, and building the capacity of landowners to manage key environmental threats.

    Investment: $ 49 000
    Other contribution: $ 65 200
Delivery organisation: Cape to Cape Catchments Group
    Project duration: February 2015 - June 2016
Location: Margaret River; Augusta-Margaret River Shire
