14109: Improving Pastoral Recognised Biosecurity Group Capacity

Five Recognised Biosecurity Groups (RBG) have been formed in the pastoral region under the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management Act 2007 covering the Kimberley, Pilbara, Carnarvon, Meekatharra and Goldfields Nullarbor regions. The area covers the entire pastoral region and 31 local government authorities.

RBGs are incorporated associations of volunteers that enable community and industry to partner with organisations, including government agencies, to share responsibility and coordinate control of declared pests on a landscape scale within a defined regional area.

This project aims to improve the governance capacity, Occupation Health and Safety procedures, and communications of the RBGs in partnership with the Department of Agriculture and Food and Rangelands NRM. An improvement in the governance standards of these groups will help improve delivery of pest control programs across the pastoral region and engagement of landholders.
