The Goldfields Nullarbor Rangelands Biosecurity Association has located a large number of cactus infestations on the Nullarbor. These infestations, consisting of WONS, have been found mainly in abandoned town sites along the Trans Australia Railway.

This project aims to eradicate the cacti to prevent them from spreading into pristine pastoral landscape. Quick action is required so that the emerging and spreading cacti, which are now starting to spread exponentially, can be controlled by mechanical removal and spraying.

    Investment: $ 30 000
    In-kind contribution: $ 40 000
Delivery organisation: Goldfields Nullarbor Rangelands Biosecurity Association Inc.
    Project duration: March 2015 - December 2015
Location: The project is based at five townsites along the Trans Australia Railway between Kalgoorlie and edge of the pastoral region
