15036: Vegetation Surveys and Weed Control in the Ranges Link

This project will occur in the Ranges Link (Stirling Range National Park to Porongurups), a key part of Gondwana Link. A number of vegetation communities and species are listed as priority conservation targets in the Ranges Link Conservation Action Plan. However, it is not possible to protect these communities and species if it is not known where they occur. Oyster Harbour Catchment Group has contracted a series of vegetation surveys to increase our knowledge of local plant communities. One survey identified a threatened floristic community within a remnant on a private property that had previously not been recorded outside of the Stirling Range National Park highlighting the need to undertake further surveys.

    Project Activities:

    • Vegetation surveys of 103ha of remnant vegetation in the Ranges Link area
    • Weed control in 50ha of remnant vegetation
    • Production of a detailed vegetation report for dissemination
    Investment: $ 20 710
    In-kind contribution: $ 23 100
Delivery organisation: Oyster Harbour Catchment Group Inc.
    Project duration: July 2016 - June 2017
