15138: The Beckenham Open Space Wetland Linkages Restoration project

The Beckenham Open Space is a public area where the endangered Carnaby's, Baudin's and Red tailed Black Cockatoos come to roost and feed on frequent occasion. This area has a previous history of agricultural use and as a consequence has a heavy weed seed burden. The area has major wetlands situated next to the Yule Brook and Canning River system and is a major filter for water. Having previously been the subject of revegetation projects, managing the seasonal weeds of these sites of the Canning River and Yule Brook will improve the water quality, habitat and biodiversity by encouraging further self regeneration of native plant species.
