15148: Emerging Weeds and their Management in the North Stirlings Pallinup

Early detection of weeds is the best prevention of widespread infestation. When there is poor awareness of weeds, plants that might otherwise be controlled are missed and produce seed to further contaminate land.  This project will benefit the public lands represented by the Stirling Range National Park as well as those across the Gnowangerup Shire and will involve:

A field walk to a riparian zone to demonstrate what the riparian zone can look like when weeds are controlled; also to see weeds growing and practice identifying them. The day will also include a talk about control methods, and community members will be able to bring along weeds they are unable to identify for assistance.  And a roadside weeds survey by volunteers to identify areas of weed contamination. Shire of Gnowangerup will follow this up by managing the weeds identified.
