15168: Feral Pig Management in the Chittering Valley

Activity by the vertebrate pest technicians has begun to impact numbers of the feral pigs which have been destroying orchards and remnant vegetation in the Chittering Valley over the last twenty years. In two previous rounds of State NRM funding pig disposal numbers have been over three hundred. In 2016 the trappers have been working really hard and have removed 134 pigs. These pigs have been mainly young pigs with some larger sows. Along with this project, the Chittering Valley LCDC have begun to move towards their target of feral pig eradication in the Valley.
