    This project aims to develop community engagement and capability through four three monthly  fauna and other environmental monitoring at Balijup, an environmentally significant property near Tenterden, including the 111ha fenced Fauna Conservation enclosure within Balijup. Green Skills and Dr Nic Dunlop, Citizen Science Coordinator, will coordinate the project. Funds will assist with the purchase of five wildlife monitoring (motion sensitive cameras), assist with project coordination and community, part of the costs of Dr Nic Dunlop attending and travel/ support for coordinator/volunteers. The project will assist with implementing the local Conservation action plan for this part of Gondwana Link.

    Major project achievements

    • Community engagement and capability through four three monthly fauna and other Environmental monitoring at Balijup between May 2016 and January 2017, an environmentally significant property near Tenterden, including the 111ha fenced Fauna Conservation enclosure within Balijup.
    • Acquisition and deployment of six wildlife monitoring (motion sensitive cameras) at Balijup, allowing enhance citizen science based monitoring of fauna within the Sanctuary.
    • Detailed reporting of environmental monitoring undertaken.
    • Skill development for both Green Skills and other project partner staff and over 40 volunteers in environmental monitoring/wildlife management related skills.
    • Assisting community interest and momentum in implementing the Conservation action plan for this part of Gondwana Link.
